Office of Technology Development

Tech TransferThe Office of Technology Development at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry was established in 2006 to facilitate technology transfer by working cooperatively with researchers whose work possesses commercialization potential. The office is housed within TAMBCD’s Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.

Technology development is driven by applied or translational research and is intended to result in an increase of technology research at TAMBCD. Current foci for technology transfer at the college include various aspects of device development and tissue regeneration.

Activities within the technology development office involve:

  • educating, motivating and providing incentives for the inventor;
  • assessing technologies for patentability and/or market potential;
  • conducting scientific, industrial and investment evaluations;
  • cooperating with outside agencies and companies to develop clinical trial protocols and maximize product development and testing;
  • interacting with the Texas A&M University System Office of Technology Commercialization, Greater Dallas Chamber, Technology Business Council, BioDFW and similar organizations; and
  • developing relationships with small businesses to leverage National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer program funding.
