Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are
now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.
"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's website as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:
- "Gum Disease" featuring Dr. Ellen Hall. As many as one in seven Americans has gum disease, and most don't know it. However, there are warning signs.
- "Healthy Chocolate" featuring Lisa Harper (BCD). Is chocolate candy bad or good for your health? Researchers continue to study the cocoa bean and have some heartening news for chocolate lovers.
- "Sleep Dental Patients" featuring Dr. Hugh Oser. Many Americans – fearful of going to the dentist – are choosing to sleep through their dental procedures. Taking a sedative is the only way some patients can get past their
anxiety.
- "Whiter Teeth" featuring Dr. Dale Greer (BCD '77). This year, Americans are expected to do one thing in greater numbers than ever before: bleach their tooth enamel. Whitening products have grown into a
half-billion dollar industry.

Baylor College of Dentistry is featured in each issue of Dateline, a bimonthly newsletter published by the Dallas County Dental Society. In addition to news and feature articles, college information and highlights are reported in the "BCD Byline" column.
Baylor College of Dentistry was featured in "Baylor holds gala to mark 100 years." The article appeared in the Feb. 2 issue of the Park Cities Morning News in Dallas.
Dr. Stephanie Grogan-Payne (BCD '96) was featured in "People of our Community Who Make a Difference." The article appeared in the Jan. 30 issue of the News Journal in Longview, Texas.
