Dr. Triplett is the assistant editor of the only textbook ever written on the topic of war injuries to the head and neck region. He was recruited by the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to join their Faculty in 1984. In 1991, he was named Chairman of the Baylor College of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which subsequently merged with the Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Triplett's areas of research interest are in the areas of bone physiology, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, head and neck infection, maxillofacial trauma, dental implants, guided tissue regeneration, and microneurosurgery. He currently has two funded grants to address sinus floor augmentation, dental implants and immediate implant placement.

Dr. Triplett is also an internationally experienced speaker who lectures worldwide on guided tissue regeneration techniques, implantology, and treatment of wartime combat casualties.
