Primary Responsibilities

Dr. Parel directs the new Center for Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, which opened in 2001, and functions as its only full-time provider. He additionally assists in providing lecturing support for the Undergraduate and Graduate programs of the College.

S Parel Dr. Parel served as a maxillofacial prosthodontist and implantologist at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at San Antonio for over 20 years before being recruited to come to Baylor College of Dentistry and start up the new Center - the first in North Texas. He was the Director of the original Brånemark osseointegration training center in San Antonio and has had extensive experience with the application of implant technology in maxillofacial prosthodontics. He has served as president of both the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and the Academy of Osseointegration. He has written numerous scientific articles in the professional literature, plus three textbooks on implant dentistry. Dr. Parel is recognized as an innovator, and one of the leading experts in the world in implant therapy.
