The college offers eleven faculty awards, annually, in recognition of excellence in the three mission areas – teaching, research and service.
Awards offer varying financial incentives that include merit increases and support for work-related travel or development of teaching techniques and methodology.
Teaching Excellence Award:
The Nominee must be full - time junior faculty, employed at BCD for a minimum of two years with a maximum of 10 years in dental education. Only assistant or associate professors are eligible.

Distinguished Teaching Awards: Four awards in this category may be presented annually to qualified faculty members. One award may be given based on teaching responsibilities in each of the pre-doctoral and/or undergraduate years. The categories are:
Basic Science Faculty Research Award: The Nominee must be full-time nonclinical faculty who has been employed at BCD for a minimum of three years. Assistant and Associate Professors are eligible. Faculty may win this award only once within a five year period.
ClinicalScience Faculty Research Award: The Nominee must be full-time clinical faculty who has been employed at BCD for a minimum of three years. Assistant and Associate Professors are eligible. Faculty may win this award only once within a five year period.
Professional Service Award: The nominee must excel in at least Community Outreach and Public Service, or Patient Care/Clinical Activity. Members of the Administrative Council cannot be considered for this award.
Institutional Service Award: The nominee must excel in the area of Institutional Service at the component and/or HSC level. Members of the Administrative Council cannot be considered for this award.
Full Time Clinical Faculty Award: The nominee must have taught more than three years and have documentation of a superior level of teaching effectiveness as determined by the evaluation.
Part Time Clinical Faculty Award: The nominee must have taught more than five years and have documentation of a superior level of teaching effectiveness as determined by the evaluation.
