Student Life at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry
Activities on and off campus at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry are as diverse as the student population itself. You'll find dental students enjoying the City, and involved in a wide variety of clubs, leisure activities, hobbies and sports.
Living in Dallas
The ninth largest city in the U.S. and the third largest in Texas, Dallas is among the nation’s 100 most ethnically diverse communities. The city is home to more than a million residents within its distinct collection of neighborhoods.
Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry is located a few blocks east of downtown Dallas and steps away from the historic Deep Ellum entertainment and arts district. Dallas is a busy city boasting numerous museums, galleries and theaters in addition to professional sports teams, fine dining, upscale shopping and a bustling night life.
According to our recent survey the current students at A&M Baylor College
of Dentistry live in a wide range of areas throughout the metroplex including
Mesquite, Garland, Richardson, Arlington, Lewisville, and Plano. 60% of students report living in
apartments, 34% in a house, 3% in a duplex and 3% in the nursing dorm. Most
students report paying rent of at least $700 per month (53%), 16% report
$600-$699, 12% report $500-$599, 8% report $400-$499, and 11% pay less than
$400.
Dallas is centrally located and within a four-hour flight from most North American destinations. DFW International Airport is the world’s third busiest airport, offering nearly 1,800 flights per day and providing non-stop service to 134 domestic and 37 international destinations worldwide. In addition, Dallas Love Field Airport is conveniently located 10 minutes from downtown.
Transportation in the Metroplex
Resident students can ride one of the fastest-growing light rail systems in the nation or the historic, free McKinney Avenue Trolley from the Dallas Arts District throughout the Uptown area with its restaurants, pubs, boutique hotels and shops.
Shopping and Entertainment
Throughout the city, students can enjoy the best shopping in the
Southwest, four-and five-diamond/star hotels and restaurants, the
largest urban arts district in the nation, 13 entertainment districts
and much more. Blend in moderate weather, year-round sports and true
Southern hospitality for a true “taste” of the Dallas difference. Its
pioneering spirit is alive and well, and the philanthropic contributions
from its many residents continue to enrich the community and quality of
life.
TAMHSC and TAMBCD partner to provide students with a myriad of cultural and
athletic events, concerts, recreational opportunities, restaurants,
theatres and lifestyle amenities that make Dallas a great place to live,
learn and play.
