Dr. Rhodes is originally from Florida. He earned a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Miami in 1982 and a D.M.D. degree from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry, in 1986. After graduating from dental school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and completed a general practice residency at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. From 1987 to 1989 he served on active duty as a general dental officer, before being honorably discharged in 1989.
Dr. Rhodes returned to Florida and was engaged in full-time private practice as a general dentist for the next 19 years. He then subsequently completed a Certificate in Endodontics at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, in 2010. Upon finishing the residency program, he returned to Florida and limited his practice to the specialty of Endodontics from 2010 to 2013.
Prior to accepting a full-time teaching appointment at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry in 2013, Dr. Rhodes was a part-time adjunct faculty member at the University of Florida, Department of Endodontics, from 2007-2008 and 2012-2013.
As a general dentist Dr. Rhodes earned the “Mastership” award from the Academy of General Dentistry. He has published articles in the field of endodontics in international journals and his research interests lie primarily in endodontic instrumentation and imaging.
Dr. Rhodes is a board-eligible member of the AAE, as well as having memberships in the ADA, IAE, IADR, and ADEA. Outside of dentistry Dr. Rhodes’ interests include fishing, watching college sports, and spending time with his family.
