Grants and Research
The mission of the Department of Biomedical Sciences is to develop and maintain oustanding basic and applied biomedical research programs, as well as to provide superior education and training in the biomedical sciences to students at BCD. Information about our research programs and the opportunities available to students for training in biomedical research is found on these pages of our website.
Research
Faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences are actively engaged in several important areas of biomedical research. For a summary of the areas being studied, click on "Major Areas of Research." A list of current grants is found at the "Grants" tab.
Training
A major training grant (NIH/NIDCR T32) was funded in mid-2008 to provide support for predoctoral students wishing to pursue dual-degree training as dentist-scientists, for dentists desiring to study for a PhD in craniofacial research, and for post-doctoral fellowship students.
Predoctoral students have the opportunity to participate in a summer research experience in which they learn basic laboratory techniques while assisting faculty with their research projects.
