Oral Diagnosis

The faculty of the Division of Oral Diagnosis within the Department of Diagnostic Sciences staffs the Oral Diagnosis Clinic and provides the following service and educational functions within the Baylor College of Dentistry clinical program:

1. Patients with acute dental problems are screened and directed for treatment as indicated to various clinics of the College such as Oral Surgery, Endodontics, and the Limited Care Clinic. This is essentially the obligation of the faculty with only occasional student involvement.

2. Prospective patients for comprehensive dental care are screened to determine if the patient’s dental treatment needs can be effectively provided by the various undergraduate and graduate programs of the College. Junior and senior dental students participate in this activity during scheduled rotations.

3. The diagnostic data collection, diagnosis and preliminary treatment planning of all patients to be treated by third-year dental students in the Comprehensive Care dental program are supervised and reviewed by the faculty in the Oral Diagnosis Clinic.
