Baylor College of Dentistry's Dr. Linda Niessen and television producer Sara Ivey were given the top media award from the Chicago Dental Society at the opening session of the annual midwinter convention on February 19, 2004. Niessen and Ivey are recipients of the 2004 Cushing Award, an honor given to media for raising awareness of oral health issues. Niessen and Ivey first teamed up in 1993 to produce Dental Health Check, the nation's only weekly dental feature shot on location. Dental Health Check begins its 11th year this month.
