Braces and Overbite

Years ago I had braces to correct an overrbite. After the braces came off, the doctor gave me a retainer, after months with the retainer, I was down to only having to wear it once a week. Then me and my family moved cross-country and during that move the retainer was lost and my overbite and gap between my front teeth is back. Do I need braces again? Or can I just go back to a retainer?

There are many reasons for relapse to occur. It is difficult to answer this question without seeing the patient and  evaluating her original problem. Sometimes a retainer can be designed to correct the problem. Sometimes new appliances have to be placed to correct it.. I would recommend she have an evaluation done by an orthodontsit to determine the proper course of treatment.
