Leadership

BCD faculty, staff tapped for leadership

Marylou Gutmann, professor and director of the graduate dental hygiene program in Baylor College of Dentistry's Caruth School of Dental Hygiene, recently was appointed to the editorial advisory board of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, a new peer-reviewed journal. Her term is open-ended.

Dr. Dean Hudson, assistant professor of restorative sciences, has been appointed chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences. The announcement was made in a memo by Dr. James Cole (BCD '75), dean, on Aug. 28. Hudson had served as interim chair since June 2002.

Board certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics, Hudson joined BCD in 1993 after a successful career in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He became interim chair of restorative sciences when Dr. Amp Miller (BCD '73, '80) assumed the position of director of curriculum at BCD. The department has continued to excel and make advances under Hudson's guidance, according to Cole.
