Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.

"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:

• "Signs of Grinding?" featuring Dr. Gary Pointer (BCD '79). Do you wake up with a headache? After a night's sleep, do you still feel tired? The problem may be diagnosed not by your physician but by your dentist.
• "Little Teeth" featuring Dr. Susan Hollar (BCD '80). Genetics play a key role in a person's overall health, but did you know that genetics also can determine how your teeth develop? One common condition that often runs in families is "little teeth" or microdontia.
• "Teeth Too White?" featuring Hollar. The bleaching craze is changing how dentists match natural teeth with bonding or porcelain materials. This raises the question: Can teeth be too white?

Baylor College of Dentistry is featured in each issue of Dateline, a bimonthly newsletter published by the Dallas County Dental Society. In addition to news and feature articles, college information and highlights are reported in the "Baylor Byline" column.

"Director hired for new dental hygiene program at NTCC" appeared in the Sept. 3 edition of The Daily Tribune in Mount Pleasant. "Taking learning to a higher level" appeared in the Sept. 5 edition of The Dallas Morning News. "Gould hired for new dental hygiene program" appeared in the Sept. 11 edition of The Bee in Daingerfield. "Fall Festival set Sept. 21" appeared in the Sept. 12 edition of The White Rocker in Dallas.

Dr. James Bryan (BCD '75) was featured in "Dr. James Bryan, DDS, receives fellowship award in Honolulu." The article appeared in the Aug. 29 edition of Rosebud News in Rosebud, Texas.

Dr. Timothy Huckabee (BCD '87) was featured in "Are Dental Fears Keeping You From Having a Healthy Mouth?" The article appeared in the Sept. 15 and 24 editions of The Fort Worth Star Telegram in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. Guy Lewis (BCD '84) was featured in "The 'Guy' behind Cosmetic Dentistry." The article appeared in the September issue of Health and Fitness Magazine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Stephen Parel (BCD), Steven Ruff (BCD), Dr. Bob Schow (BCD) and Dr. Gil Triplett (BCD) were featured in "Foundation grant corrects dental condition, opens door to life-changing opportunity." The article appeared in the October issue of Osseointegration Foundation News.

Dr. Charles Wakefield (BCD) was featured in "What's the wisdom in teeth." The article appeared in the Sept. 12 edition of Reporter-News in Abilene, Texas.
