Jeana Goodnight, clinic coordinator
assistant in professional services, was named Staff Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2005. Presented by the Staff Forum, the award was announced during the group's meeting on April 27.
Dr. Jacqueline Plemons (BCD '86,
'88), clinical associate professor of periodontics, and Elain Benton, instructor in public health sciences, earned kudos when the Texas/Oklahoma AIDS Education and Training Center presented
its My Brother's Keeper Award to Baylor College of Dentistry in
March. The award recognizes the college "for going above and beyond its scope of work to provide support and resources to local performance sites within the Texas/Oklahoma AETC."
Plemons serves as dental director for the 11 local performance sites comprising the Texas/Oklahoma AETC, and is BCD's primary lecturer at the sites. Benton is the site assistant for BCD. Dr. K. Vendrell Rankin
(BCD '77), professor and associate chair of public health sciences, is principal investigator and program director of the BCD site.
Kelton Stewart (D3) received a $1,500
Dental Student Scholarship Award from the Foundation of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international honor dental organization. Awarded to one student at each of the 55 U.S. dental schools, the
scholarship was presented to Stewart on May 3 at the college. It is based on scholarship, leadership and financial need as well as integrity, imagination, initiative and communication skills.
Stewart also received a $1,500 scholarship from the National Association Medical Minority Educators, Inc. on April 29. The NAMME Southern Region Scholarship award is given to
students based upon their academic record, community service, financial need, and personal statement.
