Dental Olympics

BCD Olympians come out on top ... again!

"It's a 'three-peat!'" was the cheer of Baylor College of Dentistry student athletes and supporters who participated in Dental Olympics in San Antonio April 12. For the third year in a row, BCD athletes brought home the top trophy from the annual event.

Dental Olympics is an extracurricular, intercollegiate competition sponsored by BCD, the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch and the UTHSC at San Antonio Dental School. Student athletes compete in 5K, basketball, billiards, dodge ball, flag football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball and washers.

The BCD men's basketball team kept things interesting through the final second.

Men's, women's and co-ed teams in all events played enthusiastically, celebrating wins and taking losses in stride. The athletes were cheered on by a large contingent of fellow students and family members who traveled to the event to support them.

The day got off to a good start when the BCD men's soccer team triumphed 10-0 against San Antonio. Hero of the day was Gerard Macy (D2) who alone out-dodged five San Antonio players to win men's dodge ball. Star of the day was Heath Copeland (D2) who scored the winning shot in the final second of the game in men's basketball. BCD co-captains Brandon Allen (D2) and Amy Ragan (D2) kept the BCD teams running smoothly.
