Leadership

BCD dean, faculty, librarian tapped for leadership

Susan Gerding Bader, assistant director for public services in the Baylor Health Sciences Library, is president-elect of the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association. Her term as president will begin at the close of the 2003 SCC/MLA annual meeting in October, followed by another term as past president. The association comprises health sciences librarians from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Dr. Stanton W. Cobb (BCD '83), assistant professor of restorative sciences, was selected for membership at The Center of Bioethics and Human Dignity April 14. The invitation came following a meeting Cobb hosted for the center at BCD April 4 that featured Dr. John F. Kilner, president of the Chicago center. The meeting included selected physicians, dentists, residents and guests. Kilner, also chair of ethics at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill., invited Cobb to study at Trinity as well.

Dr. Miro A. Pavelka (BCD '77, '81), clinical professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, is a board member of the newly established Texas A&M University System Health Science Center Foundation. Dr. James S. Cole (BCD '75), dean of the college, is an ex officio member of the board. The foundation will hold quarterly board meetings, which will be rotated among the HSC components. BCD will host the board in October.
