Dr. Bob Hutchins and Robert Spears attended the National Institutes of Health's Symposium on Neurobiology of Craniofacial/Deep Tissue Persistent Pain in Baltimore March 13-14. In addition, Hutchins attended the American Society of Pain's meeting March 15-17, also in Baltimore.
Two of Dr. Mahyar Nouri-Shirazi's abstracts were accepted by the Experimental Biology/Immunology 2002 conference in New Orleans April 20-24. Elisabeth Guinet is the co-author. Also published in The
FASEB Journal, the abstracts are titled:
- A defective role in type-1 T helper (TH1) cell differentiation by dendritic cells (DCs) exposed to nicotine
- Direct- and indirect cross-tolerance of alloreactive T cells by dendritic cells (DCs) retained in immature stage

Dr. Roger Alexander presented "Occupational Pathogens of Concern in the Dental Office: An Overview and Update" to the Dallas Dental Hygienists' Society April 6 at the Dallas County Dental Society. Alexander also presented the American Heart Association's "Basic Life Support Instructor Course" at Baylor College of Dentistry April 12-13.Other News:

presentations. She delivered a one-day lecture on "Allergies, Piercing to Periodontics – Oral Medicine in the New Millennium" at the Louisiana Dental Association's annual meeting in Baton Rouge, La., March 15. On
