Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.

"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:

• "Cancer Treatment" featuring Lance Armstrong, Dr. Jackie Plemons (BCD '86) and Dr. John Chandler. Many of the treatments used to fight cancer can cause drastic problems for the oral cavity. Cancer patients need to see their general dentist before beginning their cancer therapy.
• "Clear Braces" featuring Dr. Doug Crosby (BCD '81). Many adults are following in the footsteps of actor Tom Cruise and utilizing new clear ceramic braces to straighten their teeth. 

"New Teeth and Bone" featuring Drs. Anne George and Michael McGuire. Now that scientists have discovered the gene that causes mineralization in the body, some are growing teeth and bone in the laboratory.

Baylor College of Dentistry is featured in each issue of Dateline, a bimonthly newsletter published by the Dallas County Dental Society. In addition to news and feature articles, college information and highlights are reported in the "Baylor Byline" column. 

BCD was mentioned in "Hometown Health."  The article appeared in the Feb. 28 edition of the Rosebud News in Rosebud, Texas. 

Dr. Byron Benson (BCD) was quoted in "Health Briefs."  The article appeared in the April 22 edition of The Dallas Morning News.

Dr. David Jackson (BCD '78) and Jennifer Fetty (BCD '97-DHyg) were featured as Best Dentist and Best Dental Hygienist in the March 7 edition of the Farmersville Texas Times in Farmersville, Texas.

Dr. Guy Lewis (BCD '84) was featured in "One stop dental shop offers variety of options." The article appeared in the March 28 edition of The Villager in The Woodlands, Texas.

Dr. Hui Liang (BCD) was featured in "Awards." The announcement appeared in the March 15 edition of the Dallas Business Journal.

Darlene Reed (BCD '73-DHyg) was featured in "8 from GOP seeking 3 posts."  The article appeared in the March 6 edition of the Rockwall-Rowlett Morning News in Rockwall, Texas.

Dr. John Wilbanks (BCD '53) was featured in "Business People."  The article appeared in the March 10 edition of the El Paso Times in El Paso, Texas.
