Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.

"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:

• "Give Kids a Smile" featuring Dr. William Powell (BCD '74). Give Kids a Smile programs take place all over the country in community clinics. The program brings together volunteer dentists and hygienists to treat children whose families cannot afford dental care.
• "Mouth Sores" featuring Dr. Terry Rees (BCD '68). A puzzling mouth condition affects millions of Americans, mostly women past age 50.
• "Toothbrush Wars" featuring Dr. Mary Swift (BCD '94). A toothbrush war has broken out. It is the twists vs. the shakes.

Baylor College of Dentistry is featured in each issue of Dateline, a bimonthly newsletter published by the Dallas County Dental Society. In addition to news and feature articles, college information and highlights are reported in the "Baylor Byline" column.

Shawn Chapman (BCD '01) and Dr. Roger Alexander (BCD) were mentioned in "A class in dentistry leads to a love lesson." The article appeared in the Feb. 2 edition of The Dallas Morning News. (The article featured Chapman's romance and marriage to Alexander's son.)

Dr. Gerald Glickman (BCD) was featured in "New Chairman Sets the Direction for Endodontics Department at Baylor College of Dentistry." The article appeared in the February 2003 edition of Doctor of Dentistry in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.

Former BCD board member Erle Nye was featured in "TXU CEO to speak at meeting of the Rotary Club." The article appeared in the Jan. 12 edition of the Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Former BCD board member Chris Semos was featured in "Area hospital announces directors." The article appeared in the Jan. 2 editions of DeSoto Today, Duncanville Today, Lancaster Today and Midlothian Today in southwest Dallas County.
