Baylor Burr 2002, Baylor College of
Dentistry's yearbook, received a Special Achievement Award from Taylor Publishing Company in Dallas. The award recognizes special achiever staffs, which are selected based on their overall
dedication, effort and accomplishments.
As a special achievement winner, the Burr will appear in the 2003 edition of Taylor's Yearbook Yearbook publication. Janet Reinwald, director of media resources, is BCD's yearbook adviser.
Dr. Byron Benson, professor of oral and maxillofacial radiology in diagnostic sciences and a captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve, received the Trifshauser-Yeargin Senior Naval
Reserve Dental Officer of the Year Award during the annual Rear Admiral William Vaughn Memorial Naval Reserve Dental Seminar in Fort Worth, Texas, Jan. 18-19.
Rear Admiral Maurice Hill, deputy assistant chief for dentistry, presented the award to Benson along with a gold star in lieu of a second award of the Meritorious Service
Medal. Benson retired from the Naval Reserve in November after 23 years of service.
Kimberly Southern,
clinic manager in general dentistry, was named Staff Employee of the Year for 2002. Presented by the Staff Forum, the award was announced March 4. Read about Southern's dedication in the "Employee Profile" of the January issue, found in the archives of the Baylor Dental Record Online.
