Baylor Dental Record Online

BCD faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit professional and personal news for publication in the Baylor Dental Record Online, BCD's monthly online newsletter. Some submissions may be held for other publications such as the Baylor Dental Journal, the college's annual magazine, or C-Scan, the quarterly newsletter of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center.

The deadline for submissions is generally the Friday following the first Monday of each month. However, a reminder will be sent via e-mail prior to each deadline. To submit news or for more information, contact Elizabeth J. Fulce, publications editor in the Office of Communications and Development, at efulce@tambcd.edu or at Ext 8358.

BCD Calendar

The Baylor College of Dentistry calendar of events and activities is available to faculty, staff and students on-campus via the college intranet. Just click on "College Calendar" to access it, and then click on a specific month for the current schedule.

The Dean's Office maintains the calendar. To add an event, send a notice by campus mail or e-mail to Sara Wartes (swartes@tambcd.edu), administrative coordinator I in the office. Include the name of the event, the sponsoring organization (if any), date, time and place.

Birth

Reagan Danielle Shearin arrived Jan. 21 weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces. She is the daughter of Chris and Dana Shearin and the granddaughter of Leah Pockrus, administrative coordinator in public health sciences.

Fund-raisers

Breakers: A Coffee House and More is now open in the B-level adjacent to the student lounge. The coffee cart offers a variety of drinks including coffee, tea, latte, espresso, frappuccino, smoothies and more. A percentage of the proceeds benefits BCD Student Council projects.

The Student American Dental Hygienists' Association is selling Braun Oral B electric toothbrushes (ultra plaque remover model). The $40 price includes an extra replacement head. Obituaries

Shirley Carlson passed away Feb. 20 in Orlando, Fla. Her son is Dr. David Carlson, Regents professor and chair of biomedical sciences and associate dean for research and advanced education.

Reminders

Health Care Provider Renewal Courses (CPR classes) will be held at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on March 15, 21 and 29. To attend or for more information, call Gracie Perez, administrative assistant in clinical services, at Ext 8388 or stop by Room 108.

The International Oral Lichen Planus Support Group's next online session will be March 20 at 9 a.m. Dr. Michael Lewis is the special guest. Retirements

Carmen Banks, graphic illustrator in media resources, retired in February after 15.5 years at BCD. She was honored at a reception Feb. 4.

Herb Hangen, shipping and receiving supervisor in purchasing, was honored during a retirement reception March 5. He retired after 12.5 years at BCD.
