institution's status to the system's board of regents. In addition, a system liaison who attends all CSAB meetings has access to the
chancellor as well and reports CSAB actions and students'issues. "All of these methods help keep both the chancellor and the board of regents informed about student concerns," Coyle
said. "Serving as BCD's CSAB representative is an enriching and eye-opening experience, and I want BCD students to understand that I am available to take their concerns to the chancellor."
CSAB objectives include increasing communication with the students at each institution to ensure that student needs are being met and establishing an annual systemwide blood drive. CSAB
members also take an annual trip either to the Texas capital or the nation's capital to meet with officials and observe government in action. This year, the group will travel to Washington, D.C., to meet
with Texas congressional leaders and discuss how Texas universities can improve and increase their federally funded research dollars.
