In the News graphicBaylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.

"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well.  Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:

  • "Facial Pain" featuring Dr. Steven Bender (BCD '86). Dentists are using a new treatment to relieve severe facial pain caused by trigeminal neurgalgia.
  • "Texas Dental Report Card" featuring Dr. Mickey Vaclav (BCD '74). Texas earned a C minus on its report card for oral health. Every year, a group called Oral Health America rates all 50 states on issues that affect the oral health of citizens, especially children.
  • "Kitty Checkup" featuring Dr. Ritchie Beougher. A Plano dentist uses the latest technology to treat a tiger.
  • "Twin Dentists" featuring Drs. Chris and Matt Miller. Patients in a Plano, Texas, dental office are doing a double take. Identical twin brothers now work together as dentists sharing the same office.

Baylor College of Dentistry is featured in each issue of Dateline, a bimonthly newsletter published by the Dallas County Dental Society. In addition to news and feature articles, college information and highlights are reported in the "BCD Byline" column. 

Baylor College of Dentistry was featured in "Hometown Health: The Right Toothbrush Makes the Difference." The article appeared in the April 27 edition of The Index in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Dr. Russell Bradley (BCD '75) was featured in "Ties to Adam at issue in race." The article appeared in the April 20 edition of The Eagle in Bryan, Texas.

Dr. Jason Cope (BCD '95, '97, '99) was featured in "Exceptional new orthodontic office in Snider Plaza." The article appeared in the April 24 edition of Northside People and Park Cities People in Dallas.

Drs. Gerardo (BCD '94), Lucinda (BCD '03), Ricardo (BCD '92) and Ruben Rodriguez (BCD '03) were featured in "Dental bug bites 4 siblings." The article appeared in the May 23 edition of The Dallas Morning News in Dallas.
