Sealants were applied to 312 teeth during the event, which was staffed by 41 dental students who are either ADS members or other dental-student volunteers. One dental
hygiene student volunteered as well. Ultradent, a dental products company, donated all sealant materials and supplies.BCD students were supervised by Dr. Stephen Crane (BCD '73), clinical assistant professor
of public health sciences; Dr Maiara Hister (BCD '98-AEGD), assistant professor of restorative sciences; Dr. Steve McDonald (BCD '80), clinical assistant professor of restorative sciences; and
Dr. Loulou Moore (BCD '93, '94), assistant professor of restorative sciences and ADS faculty adviser. Dana Ly (D4), ADS community service officer, coordinated the event. "I am very proud of our
students, who treated our young patients in a most caring and professional way," said Moore. "It was a truly wonderful learning experience for all of us while, at the same time, our patients received important oral
health education and valuable preventive care." In addition to BCD students and faculty, Dr. Eric Huynh (BCD '94) again volunteered his time and brought gift packages to the patients. He also helped oversee the
dental students when needed. Another highlight was "Kitty the Clown," portrayed by BCD's own Kitty Trammell, clinic accounting assistant in clinical services. "Dr. Huynh's generous participation and Kitty's
joyful enthusiasm were appreciated by the children and their parents," Moore said. "Sealant Day wouldn't be the same without them."
