Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday
during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network. "Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen
(BCD), the report's recent topics include:
- "Sports Office" featuring Dr. Doug Crosby
(BCD '81). A Dallas-area orthodontist has created a sports fan's haven inside his Richardson office. Patients are often more compliant and miss fewer appointments in offices where dentistry is fun.
- "Underbite" featuring Crosby. About one in 20 American children inherits a disorder called an "underbite." Parents can diagnose an underbite problem by about age 2.
"Zirconia Teeth" featuring Dr. David Little. Dentists are borrowing technology from jewelers. They are using a common mineral, zircon, to make the newest type of dental bridge.
