Dr. Bob Hutchins traveled to Chicago to attend the American Dental Association's National Boards Test Construction Committee meeting June 18-20. He was appointed to a five-year term on the committee last year. Orthodontics Presentation: Dr. Paul Rossouw presented "Long-term Changes in Orthodontics: The Treated or Untreated Subject and Stability" at the American Association of Orthodontists' annual meeting in Hawaii in May. Publication: Garcia-Morales P, Buschang PH, Throckmorton GS, English JD. Maximum bite force, muscle efficiency and mechanical advantage in children with vertical growth patterns. The European Journal of Orthodontics 25(3):265-272, 2003. Other News: Rossouw is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, FRCD. As an examiner for the discipline of orthodontics for the college, he recently traveled to Toronto to perform this function at the exam. Periodontics Presentations: Dr. Farhad E. Boltchi presented a lecture to the residents and faculty of the Oral Surgery Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School May 7. The lecture was titled "Esthetic Implant Dentistry with Special Emphasis on Soft Tissue Considerations." Drs. Nancy Burkhart and Terry Rees hosted a discussion session for the International Oral Lichen Planus Support Group May 15. Special guest was Dr. Peter Jacobsen, professor of pathology and medicine and director of the Oral Medicine Clinic at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. Dr. J.Y. Cho traveled to South Korea May 9-12 to present "Baylor Periodontic Study Club" to practicing Korean dentists. Dr. Marco Cueva presented "Root Coverage Procedure with Emdogain" to dentists at the Europerio lecture June 19 in Berlin. Publications: Ezzo P, Cutler CW, Rees TD. Other News: Three dentists from Korea completed the Visiting Scholar Continuing Education Program in Periodontics May 21. Dr. William Hallmon presented certificates to Drs. Joo Hong Kwon, Sang Ho Shin and Sang Kook Yeom. Restorative Sciences Drs. Chris Beninger, Marvin Hirsh and Steve Karbowski attended the Ultradent Dental Educators' Conference in Salt Lake City April 11-12. The conference focused on esthetic dentistry with detailed
discussion on the use of adhesive bonding and composite resin in restorative dentistry. |
