A&M System Dr. Robert M. Gates,
former interim dean of Texas A&M University's George Bush School of Government and Public Service, was appointed president of Texas A&M June 6 during a special meeting of The Texas A&M University System board of regents. He will assume office Aug. 1. For more information, go to

was named interim president of Prairie View A&M University. He had been the university's vice president for finance and administration since 1996. Tempton became acting president on May 21, after Charles A. Hines announced his retirement as president. For more information, go to
Baylor Dental Record Online BCD faculty, staff and students
are encouraged to submit professional and personal news for publication in the Baylor Dental Record Online,
BCD's monthly online newsletter. Some submissions may be held for other publications such as the Baylor Dental Journal, the college's annual magazine, or C-Scan,
the bimonthly newsletter of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center. The Baylor Dental Record, a printed newsletter, will no longer be published. The deadline for submissions is generally the

publications editor in the Office of Communications and Development, at Engagement Shawn Chapman (BCD '01-DHyg) is engaged to marry U.S. Marine Corps Captain Marc Alexander, son of
Dr. Roger Alexander, professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery/pharmacology. The wedding is set for Dec. 20. When she was a BCD student, Chapman began exchanging e-mails with Alexander while he was deployed to the Persian
Gulf, flying enforcement missions over the Southern No-Fly Zone. Their relationship evolved from those e-mails. Alexander is a 1994 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md. He serves as a naval aviation flight officer
(counter-electronics) from his home base at the Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, N.C. Currently, his squadron is again deployed in the Persian Gulf region. Reminder Health Care Provider Renewal Courses (CPR
