BCD in the News

Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.

"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:

• "Sim Lab?" featuring Dr. Tom McKinney (BCD '68). Do you get nervous just thinking about going to the dentist? You'll be reassured to know that dental students are learning how to make you feel more comfortable even before they treat a real patient.
   
• "Teen Invasilign" featuring Dr. Doug Crosby (BCD '80). The name "metal mouth" no longer applies to a select goup of teenage orthodontic patients. A computer-designed system of straightening teeth is now being offered to children as young as 12 years old.

Baylor College of Dentistry is featured in each issue of Dateline, a bimonthly newsletter published by the Dallas County Dental Society. In addition to news and feature articles, college information and highlights are reported in the "Baylor Byline" column.

Baylor College of Dentistry was mentioned in several articles. "Mission of Mercy" appeared in the Nov. 8 edition of The Courier-Times-Telegraph in Tyler, Texas. "A Great Feeling … Helping Others" appeared in the Nov. 9 edition of The Courier-Times-Telegraph in Tyler. "Methodist Hospitals Names 3 to Board" appeared in the Nov. 21 edition of The Oak Cliff Tribune in Dallas.

Dr. Edward P. Allen (BCD '69) was featured in "Periodontist on board." The article appeared in the Nov. 26 edition of The Dallas Morning News.

Dr. Stephanie Smith Crise (BCD '95) was featured in "Dr. Stephanie Crise: of practice and performance." The article appeared in the Nov. 3 edition of The Courier Gazetter in McKinney, Texas.

Dr. John Fallis (BCD '68) was featured in "Bringing smiles to Celina." The article appeared in the Nov. 21 edition of The Celina Record in Celina, Texas.

Dr. William D. Fritsch (BCD '78) was featured in "William D. Fritsch, D.D.S., putting fabulous smiles on faces of Queen City residents." The article appeared in the Nov. 5 edition of Del Rio News-Herald in Del Rio, Texas.

Dr. Jeffrey S. Genecov (BCD '85) was featured in "Awards." The article appeared in the Nov. 22 edition of The Dallas Business Journal in Dallas, Texas. Genecov also was featured in "Genecov receives honor." The article appeared in the Oct. 31 edition of The Star Courier in Plano, Texas.

Dr. Thomas C. Harrison (BCD '79) was featured in "Local dentist named to board of directors." The article appeared in the Oct. 23 edition of Katy Times in Katy, Texas.

Dr. Rick Linavong (BCD '01) was featured in "Lakeside Dental." The article appeared in the Nov. 14 edition of Little Elm Journal in Little Elm, Texas.

Dr. David L. Stanphill (BCD '88) was featured in "Guerrero receives Stanphill Scholarship." The article appeared in the Nov. 10 edition of The Empire Tribune in Stephenville, Texas.
