Baylor College of Dentistry's annual Festival of Cultures is set for Feb. 3-7. Sponsored by the college's Welcoming Diversity Committee, the festival features a photo contest, guest speakers,
ethnic luncheon and entertainment.
The Rev. La Fayette Holland, associate pastor of outreach at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, is the featured speaker during the festival's opening ceremony Feb. 3 at noon. He will offer a
historical perspective of African-Americans in Dallas and the nation.
The Ethnic Celebration Luncheon will present potluck culinary delights on Feb. 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the sixth floor. Luncheon participants are asked to bring a dish that reflects
their cultural heritage. Note: A warming oven and outlets will be available to keep hot foods hot; however, time constraints prevent heating cold or frozen foods.
Billy Williams, president of the Garland Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is the featured speaker on Feb. 7. He will discuss diversity.
Entertainment is still being arranged; information will be posted on the bulletin boards and sent via e-mail as it becomes available.
The photo contest theme is "Similarities and Differences." Deadline for entries is Jan. 22. First, second and third prizes of $50, $30 and $20 (in NorthPark dollars) will be announced during
the festival's opening ceremony.
Rules were sent via e-mail and are posted on the bulletin boards. For more information, contact Pearl Kapuscinski,
administrative assistant in oral and maxillofacial surgery/pharmacology, at pkapuscinski@tambcd.edu or Ext 8299. She serves as the committee's photo contest chair.
