Dr. Rolf Behrents,
chair of orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry, was awarded honorary academic membership in the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation for Orthodontic Research Dec. 4 during the foundation's meeting in the Grand Cayman Islands. The honor was bestowed in recognition of Behrents' "invaluable contribution to the education of specialists in orthodontics and for his loyalty and dedication to the foundation."
Dr. Amp Miller
(BCD '73, '80), director of curriculum in academic services and professor and assistant chair of restorative sciences, has been nominated for the Minnie Stevens Piper Professorial Award by The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center's Faculty Senate. The HSC is eligible to nominate one candidate for the award.
The Minnie Piper Stevens Foundation honors 15 professors each year for their dedication to the teaching profession and for outstanding academic, scientific and scholarly achievement. Selection
is made on the basis of nominations from each college or university in Texas. Award winners will be announced May 1.
BCD's Staff Forum named two winners recently for the Staff-Employee-of-the-Quarter Award. Dru Lewis,
clinic manager in orthodontics, received the award for the second quarter of 2002; Kimberly Southern, clinic manager in general dentistry, received it for the third quarter of 2002.
