Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.

"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:

· "Dental Resolutions" featuring Dr. Farhad Boltchi (BCD '97). Are you struggling to keep a New Year's resolution about your health, such as losing weight? Focusing on your oral health is a good way to start the year.

· "Family Dentistry" featuring Dr. Bob Hunsucker (BCD '89). Every year, a North Texas dental office gives a big gift to a very big family: free dental check-ups.

· "Give Back a Smile" featuring Dr. Susan Hollar (BCD '80). Broken teeth are too often a sign of a broken relationship between a husband and wife. But now, a special program can give back a smile to a battered woman.

· "Implant Imaging" featuring Dr. Adam Andrews and Dr. Pete Benson (BCD). More Americans are expected to get dental implants this year than ever before. Because implants are easier and quicker than ever before, they have never been more popular. Many dentists suggest patients get special X-rays before having the surgery.

· "Lip Service" featuring Hollar. Some dentists are giving new meaning to the phrase "lip service." New dental techniques can improve the look of both lips and teeth.
