Bake Sale

Women's Club gears up for bake sale

Would you like to give your sweetheart (or yourself) a double treat Feb. 14? It's easy, thanks to the Baylor College of Dentistry Women's Club.

Lots of delicious treats will be available for purchase during the group's annual Valentine's Day bake sale (that's treat #1). Plus,

proceeds benefit the club's fund that underwrites an annual scholarship presented to a dental or dental hygiene student (that's treat #2).

Through several fund-raising activities during the year, the Women's Club also supports the BCD Social Services Dental Care Fund administered by the Department of Public Health Sciences. The club has monthly lunch meetings for members; the next meeting is March 26 in Room 604.

In January, the Women's Club raised more than $300 during its annual

sack-lunch sale. "We did such terrific business that we had to make more sandwiches," said Brenda J. Harman, Women's Club president and wife of Dr. William Harman, associate dean for student and alumni services. "We lost count of the total but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 95 to 100, which appears to be a new record."
