Dallas-area children have healthier smiles thanks to
Children's Sealant Day sponsored by the Asian-American Dental Society at Baylor College of Dentistry Oct. 26. Supported by the college's pediatric dentistry and public
health sciences departments, the free program helped 98 children, 94 of whom received prophylaxis and/or sealants in addition to a dental exam.
Sealants were applied to 300 teeth during the event that was staffed by 53 dental students, many of whom are members of ADS or the Texas Association of Women Dentists-BCD Chapter. Dr. W.R. DeBrucque
(BCD '57), dental director of Delta Dental Insurance Company, donated gift bags to the children.
BCD students were supervised by Dr. George Cramer (BCD '75), clinical assistant professor of restorative sciences; Dr. Stephen Crane (BCD '73), clinical assistant professor of public health
sciences; Dr. Dan Hong, clinical assistant professor of restorative sciences; Dr. Steve Karbowski, assistant professor of restorative sciences; Dr. Steve McDonald
(BCD '80), clinical assistant professor of restorative sciences; and Dr. Loulou Moore (BCD '93, '94), assistant professor of restorative sciences and ADS faculty adviser. Leeanna Bartlett,
director of social services in public health sciences, volunteered as well. Jackie Vo (D4), ADS parliamentary chair, coordinated the event.
