Solomon appointed to leadership positions

Dr. Eric Solomon, executive director of institutional research for The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, was appointed interim chief information officer for the HSC. Dr. Nancy W. Dickey, HSC president, made the appointment June 10. In that capacity, Solomon also will chair the HSC's Information Technology Advisory Committee.

"Information technology is one of the highest priorities of the health science center," Dickey wrote in the appointment letter. "The request for your leadership in this area does not come lightly. Without question, you possess the skill sets and tenacity to lead in this area."

Solomon also was appointed to a one-year term on the Texas Dental Association's Task Force on Manpower. Dr. Patricia Blanton (BCD '74, '75), TDA president and professor emeritus of biomedical sciences at BCD, made the appointment May 21.

The task force will determine the current dental workforce in Texas, including the demographics and numbers of dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and laboratory technicians. In addition, it will study the current population trends of the state to determine the future demographics and citizens of Texas. The task force will use this information to forecast emerging trends regarding the ability of the dental workforce to deliver needed care immediately and over the next 12 years.
