during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network. (BCD). What should you do if you have a complaint against a dentist? In Texas, an Austin-based state dental board acts as an industry watchdog. However, many dentists see the local dental society as more effective in resolving problems.
- "First Cleaning" featuring Dr. Barrie Choate
(BCD '84). When should a young child get their first dental X-rays and cleaning? Many parents wait until the child enters kindergarten, but by 2 ½ to 3 years, all 20 baby teeth have come in. That makes this a good time for the first dental cleaning and X-rays.
"Cleft Cosmetics" featuring Dr. James Reisman
(BCD '76). Cleft lip and palate is a condition that affects one in every 1,000 babies. This condition usually requires years of dental treatment and, once everything has been moved to the best possible position, porcelain veneers can be used to change the appearance of the teeth and give a more symmetrical and proportional appearance.
