Dr. Larry Bellinger was interviewed by Science Magazine and quoted in their online publication, Science Now, about a feeding study (molecular mechanisms controlling ingestion of imbalanced amino acid diets). The study was published in the magazine on March 18.

Other News: Spears attended a grant-writing workshop presented by Texas A&M University on Feb. 25 in College Station, Texas.

Dental Hygiene

Presentation: JoAnn Scofield presented a poster at the American Dental Education Association meeting in March. It was titled "Students Perception of Learning Utilizing a Double Entry Journal."

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Pharmacology

Presentation: Dr. Roger Alexander was the invited speaker for the monthly meeting of the Greater Houston Dental Society on March 15. He spoke on "Ten Steps You Can Take in Your Office to Reduce Your Concerns About Medical Emergencies."

Periodontics

Presentation: Dr. Francisco Rivera-Hidalgo taught a full-day course titled "Digital Photography" in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Oct. 18. Sponsored by the Hispanic Dental Association in cooperation with the University of Puerto Rico School of Dentistry, the lecture attracted association members and local dentists.
