 Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report,
"Dental Health Check," airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network.
"Dental Health Check" is available on BCD's Web site as well. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:
- "Cancer Surgery" featuring Dr. Bob Schow (BCD). Surgeons are saving faces of patients diagnosed with oral cancer by using bone transplants to rebuild jaws ravaged by disease.
- "Dental Pet Food" featuring Dr. Robert Wiggs. Several American companies have unleashed new dental pet food. The makers of American toothpaste helped create a special ingredient that cleans
dogs' and cats' teeth while they eat.
- "Designer Smiles" featuring Dr. Dale Greer (BCD '77). First came designer clothes. Now designer teeth! Advanced techniques in cosmetic dentistry can help unhappy patients design a new smile.
- "New Dental Gadgets" featuring Jed Hildebrand (BCD-D4). In the windy city of Chicago and in Dallas, dentists are shopping for the newest products and technology.
- "Pulling Teeth" featuring Dr. Mark Ozier. Dentists are pulling fewer teeth to correct orthodontic problems in children and some adults. They are using expanders to increase the palate to provide
more room for overcrowded teeth.

Dr. James Bolton (BCD '65) was featured in "Former top athlete at VHS worked on state dental board." The article appeared in the Feb. 21 edition of Vernon Daily Record in Vernon, Texas.
Dr. Frank Miller (BCD '61) was featured in "Best Dentist." The article appeared in the Feb. 26 edition of Wylie News in Wylie, Texas.
