Baylor College of Dentistry's nationally syndicated television oral health news report, "Dental Health Check," is now available on the BCD Web site. Visit the site for scripts and information about the latest segments.

"Dental Health Check" airs locally each Monday during WFAA-TV's 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In addition, "Dental Health Check" segments are now rebroadcast several times a day on the Texas Cable News Network. Hosted by Dr. Linda Niessen (BCD), the report's recent topics include:

• "Basketball Mouthguards" featuring Jeanne Olson and Rhonda Rompola. A new study concluded mouthguards drastically reduce the risk of dental injury in men's college basketball. What about women's teams?
• "New Dental Stuff" featuring Dr. Justin Aurbach (BCD '60). Chewing gum to whiten your teeth, superglue to treat canker sores, and toothbrushes that don't need holders – these are just some of the new products seen at one of the biggest dental trade shows in the world.
• "New Jaw Bone" featuring Dr. Leslie Heffez. Through distraction osteogenesis, oral surgeons are applying the healing forces of mother nature to restore what disease destroys.
• "Quick Implants" featuring Drs. Stephen Wheeler and Thomas Wilson. A new type of dental implant integrates with bone quickly, reducing healing time.
• "Sleep Cosmetics" featuring Dr. Joe Miranda (BCD '86). Imagine going to sleep and waking up with a brand new smile. Some dentists are using oral sedation during cosmetic procedures for patients who suffer from dental anxiety..

Baylor College of Dentistry is featured in each issue of Dateline, a bimonthly newsletter published by the Dallas County Dental Society. In addition to news and feature articles, college information and highlights are reported in the "Baylor Byline" column.

Baylor College of Dentistry was mentioned in "Answering health care needs of state." The article appeared in the Feb. 23 edition of the Temple Telegram in Temple, Texas. BCD also was mentioned in "Virginia Cook, Realtors annual meeting lauds 50 percent increase." The article appeared in the Jan. 31 edition of Park Cities People in Dallas.

Dr. Kevin Black (BCD '99) was featured in "Meet Kevin Black, DDS." The article appeared in the Feb. 24 edition of the Courier Gazette in Mc Kinney, Texas.

Dr. Danny Baird (BCD '86) was featured in "Cornerstone opens dual offices." The article appeared in the Feb. 6 edition of the Lewisville Leader in Lewisville, Texas.

Drs. Patricia Blanton (BCD '67, '74, '76), David Grogan (BCD '81) and Robert E. Morgan (BCD '78, '80) were featured in "State requires more training by dentists to use sedation." The article appeared in the Feb. 18 edition of the Dallas Morning News .

Dr. Brian Harris (BCD '95,'97) was featured in "SEF appoints new trustees." The article appeared in the Jan. 25 edition of the Herald Democrat in Sherman, Texas.

Dr. Timothy Huckabee (BCD '87) was featured in "Are Dental Fears Keeping You From Having a Healthy Mouth?" The article appeared in the Feb. 20 edition of the Star Telegram in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. George Stephens (BCD '60) was featured in "People Of Our Community Who Make a Difference." The article appeared in the Feb. 10 edition of the Marshall Messenger in Marshall, Texas.
