Minton Lecture

Minton Lecture features BCD Professor

Dr. Stephen Parel

Dr. Stephen Parel was the featured speaker during Baylor College of Dentistry's Morris S. Minton Honor Series Lecture March 21. Funded as a memorial by the Minton family, the annual lectureship promotes the high ethics and principles of dentistry.

Parel presented "Immediate Loading Concepts with Osseointegrated Implants" to more than 85 participants. He is professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery/pharmacology and director of BCD's Center for Maxillofacial Prosthodontics.

"It was great," exclaimed Dr. Charles Berry (BCD '73), associate dean for academic services. "The Minton Lecture gives BCD faculty, students, alumni and other dental professionals a valuable opportunity to gain the latest information about hot topics in dentistry.

"Dr. Parel did a fabulous job," he continued. "The participants definitely enjoyed his informative presentation."

Each year, the Minton Lecture's featured speaker is selected by BCD's Faculty Development Committee; Dr. Robert Cederberg (BCD '79), associate professor and director of quality assurance in diagnostic sciences, chairs the committee this year. In addition, the lectureship is coordinated internally by Donna Nezat, administrative coordinator in academic services.
