Dr. Brenda Harman, club president and wife of Dr. D. William Harman,
associate dean for student and alumni services. "Because we want to eliminate that misconception, we're seeking suggestions for a new name."The organization's purpose is to provide an annual $1,000 scholarship to a
dental student or dental hygiene student. It also supports the BCD Social Services Dental Care Fund administered by the Department of Public Health Sciences. The fund facilitates treatment completion and, thus, aids the
students' completion of graduation requirements. "The money for these projects is raised through several events sponsored by the organization, which are supported through the generosity of faculty, staff,
students and others," Brenda Harman said. Name suggestions do not need to reflect the group's mission or suggest that it is a service or booster-type organization. All reasonable suggestions will be considered,
and they can even take on an independent tone. "We hope that many in the BCD family will help us select a distinctive and enthusiastic name for this group," encouraged Brenda Harman. "In other words, think 'outside
the molar.'" Send suggestions by April 22 to the following e-mail addresses: oceanphoenix13@hotmail.com
, clibby@tambcd.edu, or
ldees@tambcd.edu. They will be reviewed at the organization's April 23 meeting; the final selection will be
made by the end of the academic year. |
