Invitation

The BCD Alumni Association will sponsor a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. April 26 during the Oklahoma Dental Association's annual meeting in Oklahoma City. The location in the Convention Center will be announced later. Betty Scott, former BCD registrar, will attend to publicize the scholarship fund named in her honor.

Also on April 26, the association will host a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. during the Arkansas State Dental Association's annual meeting in Little Rock, Ark. The event will take place in the Quapaw Parlor of the Capital Hotel. This marks the first time the association has hosted an alumni reception in Arkansas.

All BCD alumni, faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the receptions. For more information, call Bonnie Robinson, associate director of student and alumni activities and events, at Ext 8961.

Notice

The Baylor Oral Health Foundation board elected two members, Fritzi Pikes and Carol Seay, at the board's Feb.15 meeting.

Pikes is executive vice president of sales and advertising marketing of The Dallas Morning News. A CPA, she is the former chief financial officer of the News and worked for Motorola and Arthur Andersen.

Seay serves on numerous boards and charitable endeavors in the community. She was instrumental in working with the Crystal Charity Ball in obtaining matching funding approved for the Dallas County Sealant Initiative.

Longtime members Ruben Esquivel and Clara Hoffman retired from the board in February. However, both agreed to become advisory directors of the foundation.

Obituary

Walter Lee Johnson passed away March 13 in Dallas. His son is Willie Lee Johnson, lab person in environmental services.

Promotions

Six BCD faculty members were promoted recently. Their new titles are:

• Dr. Herman Dumbrigue, associate professor of general dentistry;
• Dr. Dean Hudson, associate professor of restorative sciences;
• Dr. Charles Wakefield, professor of general dentistry;
• Dr. Bruce Wiggs, adjunct professor of biomedical sciences;
• Dr. Carolyn Wilson (BCD '77, '81), professor of pediatric dentistry; and
• Dr. Wayne Woods (BCD '88), associate professor of restorative sciences.
