Orthodontics hosts Matthews Lecture

Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry hosted the inaugural Dr. Tom Matthews Lecture on Aug. 10 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

The lecture was presented by Dr. David Turpin, editor of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and supported by the Dr. Robert E. Gaylord Endowed Chair in Orthodontics. Also at the lecture, the 2007 orthodontic graduates gave a synopsis of their theses.

Matthews, now a clinical professor in orthodontics, has been involved with the orthodontics department at HSC-BCD since its inception in 1961.

The Matthews Lecture will be presented annually in perpetuity by The Dr. Tom Matthews Endowment, which was created through the generosity of Matthews’ former students and associates.
