Perio news graphicDr. Jeffrey A. Rossmann gave the following presentations this spring:
  • “Periodontal therapy in 2009: New technology for regeneration” on April 21 for the Dallas County Dental Society.  
  • “Laser use in periodontics” and “Periodontal regeneration” from April 26 – 30 for the International Congress of Odontology in Ixtapa, Mexico.

Dr. Terry D. Rees also presented at the odontology meeting in Mexico, where he delivered four lectures on stomatology: “Common mucocutaneous diseases,” “Dental restorative materials as etiologic factors in oral disease,” “Factitial injuries in the oral cavity,” and “Oral allergic reactions.”

Other News
A memorial plaque was added in April to a wall in the undergraduate periodontics clinic. It reads, “In Memoriam: Dr. Thomas W. Stanford: July 28, 1941-August 18, 2007, Associate Professor and Director of Predoctoral Periodontics. A dedicated and gracious educator, clinician, and scholar who always led in the pursuit of excellence while assisting and serving others.”

Rossmann served as an examiner for the American Board of Periodontology’s oral examination held May 3-7 in Dallas.

Drs. Ibtisam Al-Hashimi and Francisco Rivera-Hidalgo attended the annual International Association for Dental Research/American Association for Dental Research meeting April 1-4 in Miami. Al-Hashimi attended the general sessions as well as the Salivary Research Group meeting.

Perio news graphicDrs. Celeste Abraham, Al-Hashimi and Nancy Burkhart attended the American Academy of Oral Medicine Meeting April 28-May 2 in Miami.

Angela Lee-Noles has been serving for seven years as a dental auxiliary coordinator for the Western Regional Examining Board. Most recently, she assisted with examinations April 16-20 at HSC-BCD, May 22-25 in Portland, Ore., and June 3-7 in Mesa, Ariz. In her position, she trains personnel at various schools so that they can assist students and examiners during the examination period.
