Singers wanted

Singers wantedBiomedical Sciences Chair Dr. Rena D’Souza and Associate Dean for Finance Juanna Moore are organizing a singing group to add to the holiday festivities at HSC-BCD this year.

They are looking for a few good singers – both men and women – to combine their talents and have a good time singing familiar holiday music together. A variety of music will be included. If you are interested, rehearsals are held Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 605. Upcoming rehearsal dates are Nov. 15 and Dec. 6.

Faculty, students and staff are all invited to participate.  Contact Sara Wartes in the Office of the Dean at SWartes@bcd.tamhsc.edu or Joyce Tucci in biomedical sciences at JTucci@bcd.tamhsc.edu to let us know you are coming and what part you sing, or just come to rehearsal.  

Toy drive 2007

StockingCommunity Partners of Dallas’ annual toy drive begins this month and HSC-BCD once again will help fulfill the wishes of Dallas County children in the care of Child Protective Services. The college has received wish cards from the organization indicating the desired gifts of children and teens in need. Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate and may select a wish card in room 522. All unwrapped toys and the corresponding wish cards should be returned to room 522 by Dec. 5. Breakers: A Coffee House and More is located on the B-level adjacent to the student lounge. The coffee bar offers a variety of drinks including coffee, tea, latte, espresso, frappuccino, smoothies and more. A percentage of the proceeds benefits HSC-BCD Student Council projects. Bring your own mug and save 25 cents on your coffee purchase!!

The college’s centennial history book is for sale in Room 522.  Baylor College of Dentistry: The First 100 Years includes great historic pictures of early dental school days and stories that you've never heard before. To order, download the order form at http://www.bcd.tamhsc.edu/centennial/downloads/bookorder.pdf, fill it in and return to BCD’s Office of Communications and Development in Room 522.  

Submission deadline for the December/January 2008 issue is Nov. 27.  Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit professional and personal news for publication in the Baylor Dental Record Online, HSC-BCD’s online newsletter. Sympathy is extended to the family of Dr. Dan Loving, HSC-BCD alumnus, whose son, Dr. Blair Loving, passed away Oct. 14. Services were held Oct. 17 in Austin, Texas.

Condolences are extended to the family of Gracie Perez, patient services manager in clinical affairs, whose brother, Noel Arreola, passed away Oct. 14.  Services were held Oct. 17 in Mexico.

Sympathy is offered to the family of Betty Walker, environmental services clinical worker, whose husband, L.C. Tennon, passed away Oct. 22. Services were held Oct. 27 in Dallas.

Condolences are extended to the family of Juanna Moore, associate dean of finance, whose father, Fred Seale, passed away Nov. 4. Services were held Nov. 7 in Taylor, Texas.
