Pierre Fauchard scholarship

Fauchard scholarship Third-year dental student Sam Ellsworth received a $1,500 scholarship this spring from the Foundation of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Ellsworth was nominated for the scholarship by faculty members at HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry. The scholarship is designated for a student who demonstrates integrity, imagination and initiative.

The news of his scholarship was a complete surprise to an unsuspecting Ellsworth.

“I was really surprised and, at the time, really overwhelmed by it,” Ellsworth says. “I felt humbled that the faculty thought that, of my peers, I represented those qualities.”

Although he still has a year remaining in dental school, Ellsworth already is contemplating a residency in periodontics or joining a general practice after graduation.
