Chopra junior scientist
Mani Chopra, a doctoral candidate in biomedical sciences, won second place in the Junior Scientist Award from the Association of Scientists of Indian Origin in America at the group’s national meeting in Denton, Texas, Jan. 17-19. The award included a $175 stipend and a certificate. Chopra’s oral presentation was “Caspase-3 knockdown maintained NE-mediated contractile response of adult rat ventricular myocyte during sepsis.” Dr. Avadhesh Sharma, associate professor in biomedical sciences, is her mentor.
Chopra and Sharma also showed one other oral presentation and three poster presentations at the ASIOA meeting (see department news).
Chopra is planning to defend her doctoral thesis in May 2009.
