Dental Hygiene class celebrates 40 years
The Caruth School of Dental Hygiene Class of 1968 celebrates its 40-year anniversary this year. To commemorate, the class has reunited on two occasions this year.
Ten of the classmates met in May at the vacation home of Janice Curry near Seaside, Fla., for a destination reunion organized by classmates, Susie Bower and Lana Crawford. The ladies spent five days enjoying the beach, shopping, sightseeing and catching up on each other’s lives.
“Her lovely beach house near Seaside and Watercolor backs right up to the Gulf waters that roll onto white sugary sand,” says Bower. “We relaxed on the beautiful beach and talked and laughed. Each night we went out to a wonderful restaurant in the area and presented our waiter with our 10 cameras!”
During this reunion, the attending classmates sent out cards signed by the group to the remaining class members.
“The cards let the others know we missed them and reconnected everyone,” says Crawford. “Our classmates were thrilled to get their cards!”
In January, 20 out of the 33 class members, and their significant others, met in Dallas for a reunion weekend. The group dined one evening at Mario and Alberto’s Mexican restaurant and enjoyed an elegant dinner reception at the Adolphus Hotel, followed by an after party with a champagne toast the next night. The weekend concluded with Sunday brunch and an inspirational talk by one of the classmate’s husband.
Since graduating from the college, the class has gathered to reunite on seven occasions. They are currently thinking of ideas for the next two reunions.
“Life is short,” says Bower. “We want to stay connected and share our lives.”
