New diagnostic faculty roles
Faculty members in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences are adjusting their responsibilities to pursue new goals.
Effective Sept. 1, Dr. Pete Benson will assume the responsibilities of vice chair of the department. Benson has been a member of the faculty since 1987 and director of oral and maxillofacial radiology since 2003. The department expects him to bring a wealth of academic and administrative experience to the administration of the department.
Also effective Sept. 1, Dr. Gary Coleman has decided to relinquish his position of the last 11 years as director of oral diagnosis. Coleman’s goal is to redirect his focus to his teaching and academic discipline.
Taking the helm of the oral diagnosis clinic is Dr. Kelly Kofford. Although a faculty member of HSC-BCD only since last year, Koffmad previously had a distinguished career in the U.S. Army, where he served as chief of several dental clinics and director of the AEGD program at Fort Hood.
The diagnostic sciences department welcomes Benson and Kofford to their new administrative roles and thanks Coleman for his many years of dedicated service to the profession, the college and the department.
