Announcements

Submission deadline for the September issue is Aug. 21.  Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit professional and personal news for publication in the Baylor Dental Record Online, HSC-BCD’s online newsletter. To submit news or get more information, e-mail Amber Thomas at: akthomas@bcd.tamhsc.edu.

Residents and faculty: donate your old water baths or parallometers for current students to use. The restorative sciences department is asking faculty and residents to donate their water baths, Ney surveyors and parallometers they used during school so that current students can use them in the preclinical removable prosthetics course. The items are tax deductible and donors will receive a receipt for each item donated. Dr. Sandra McCarthy is taking the donated items and will provide the receipts. For more information, contact her at: smccarthy@bcd.tamhsc.edu.

SMILEWalkYour BCD colleagues want you to join their team at SMILEWalk Sept. 27! Grab your walking shoes and put on a smile because the third annual SMILEWalk, a fundraising event benefiting the Children’s Oral Health Center, is coming Sept. 27 at White Rock Lake. Once again, HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry has both a faculty and staff team and a student team participating. The staff and faculty team co-captains, Dr. Anthony Bolin and Lisa Harper Mallonee, and the student team captain, Faye Haggard, encourage you to sign up now!

There is no fee to participate, but walkers are encouraged to raise funding from family, friends and associates in support of the Children’s Oral Health Center. Walkers raising $100 or more will receive a SMILEWalk event T-shirt and a blue wristband that says, “I support oral health for kids.”

COHCInterested staff and faculty can contact Bolin at: kbolin@bcd.tamhsc.edu or Harper Mallonee at Ext. 8914 or: lharpermallonee@bcd.tamhsc.edu.
