Dr. Brendan S. Wong
Since 1983, Dr. Brendan S. Wong has been an assistant professor in biomedical sciences at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Dentistry.
Wong is the course director for the dental physiology course and enjoys his work with students. Another of his primary duties is chairing the Institutional Review Board.
Wong says some of the biggest changes he’s seen at the college are increases in extramural research funding and a dramatic expansion of the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
He likes the “collegial atmosphere” at HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry. His favorite memory here, he says, is when Dr. James S. Cole was appointed dean of the college.
Wong also enjoys his work with students. He says he likes the opportunity to teach difficult concepts and to develop and enhance their critical thinking skills.
In his free time, Wong enjoys travel and attending live theater. His family is very important to him. His wife, Mimi, is a stroke survivor and his daughter, Stephanie, is an optometrist in London.
